Born out of a passion for serving the government and non-profit industries, Horton McNulty & Saeteurn, LLP (HM&S) is here to serve your organization’s financial reporting, consulting, and accounting needs.

Our FOUNDERS

Kalah Horton, Joy McNulty, and Taen (pronounced “tan”) Saeteurn, launched HM&S in 2019. With over 40 combined years of experience in public accounting, our founders are well-versed in all of your financial reporting, consulting, and accounting needs. Taen started her public accounting career in 1996 in a small public accounting firm in the San Joaquin Valley. Three years later, looking to expand her learning opportunities, Taen joined a regional public accounting firm, where she served both tax and financial reporting clients. In 2005, Taen and her family relocated to the North State and joined Matson and Isom in their Redding office. Matson and Isom has been a cornerstone of the Chico and surrounding communities since it began in 1955.

A year before Taen joined Matson and Isom, Joy McNulty became a member of the Chico office. From 2004, Joy brought her win-win mentality to every engagement she worked on, including audits, reviews, and consulting, serving multiple industries, including school districts, community college districts, and non-profit organizations.

Five years later, Kalah Horton joined the Chico office of Matson and Isom in 2010. Kalah’s focus is working with organizations that support and make life better for people and their communities. She approaches this from a few angles, serving school districts, special districts, and non-profit entities.

Kalah, Joy, and Taen quickly became a close-knit team driving Matson and Isom’s government and non-profit practices, and leading the service team in planning and coordinating services for these clients. They are passionate about working in these industries, and develop long-term relationships with their clients who, in return, express a high level of confidence and trust in their work.

As of January 1, 2015, Matson and Isom merged with Kennedy and Coe and formed KCoe Isom. With over 360 dedicated professionals, the firm ranks approximately 60th in size in the United States. Kalah, Joy, and Taen continued to lead the firm’s government and non-profit practices after the merger.

HM&S Is BORN

When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it.
— W. Clement Stone

With the full support of KCoe Isom, Kalah, Joy, and Taen launched HM&S in 2019 to serve KCoe Isom’s governmental and non-profit practices independently of KCoe Isom going forward. HM&S was born to provide you with a team of seasoned professionals who share a passion for the education, special district government, and non-profit industries.

HM&S is fully immersed in the issues that affect these industries, and will provide your organization with the highest level of service and specialized knowledge related to your field. HM&S offers a unique service offering. HM&S holds the knowledge and expertise of a large firm, while providing you with individualized and proactive service offerings of a smaller firm at a reasonable cost.

Our COMMITMENT

From this humble beginning, our mission is to be fully immersed in the issues that affect the industries we choose to serve and to provide our clients the highest level of service and specialized knowledge related to each industry.

We will also collaborate with your staff to collect information and provide training on new regulations. Well-versed on the issues unique to California directors and educators, the HM&S team brings fresh ideas, helpful answers, and proactive guidance.
